Port Louis, Mauritius (Capital Markets in Africa) — Mauritius equities returned to positive at the end today’s trading session. The market capitalization rose by MUR 751 million to close at MUR 220.100 billion relative to previous market capitalization of MUR 219.349 billion.
The Mauritius All Share Index (SEMDEX index) marginally surged by 0.34 percent or 6.76 points to close at 1,979.49 points. SEM10 index closed at 380.54 points after adding 2.16 points or 0.57 percent.
Today’s overall total volume trade recorded at 13.502 million (a reduction of 13 percent compared to 15.572 million recorded on previous trading session). The total valued traded was recorded at MUR 100.371 million (a slight increase relative to MUR 59.909 million recorded at previous trading session).
The most active traded securities by volume were SBM Holdings recorded 12.825 million (almost 95 percent of total volume) at MUR 11.414 million and MCB Group registered 370,500 traded stocks amounted to MUR 83.312 million. Mauritius Development Investment Trust traded 71,640 stocks at MUR 363.312 million and LOTTOTECH Mauritius had a total volume of 64,679 shares at MUR 323,949. GO Life (USD) also recorded 50,000 shares at USD 53,182 million.
From the market sentiment/breath viewpoints, among the 23 traded securities there were 6 price advancers and 4 price decliners as well as 13 are price stayers. The price gainers were ENL Land Limited added 5.26 percent to end at MUR 50.00 and GAMMA CIVIC closed at MUR 27.50 after adding 1.29 percent. Also, LUX Island Resorts surged by 1.21 percent to end at MUR 62.50 and ROGERS Limited Mauritius accelerated by 1.17 percent to settle at MUR 3o.35. Ireland Blyth closed at MUR 115.00 after gaining 0.88 percent.
On the contrary, the loser was CIM Financial Services with a price reduction of 2.48 percent to trade at MUR 8.60. Likewise, Bluelife Limited tumbled by 1.42 percent to settle at MUR 4.16 and LOTTOTECH Mauritius fell by 0.42 percent to end at MUR 5.00.
The DEMEX index also rose by 0.58 points or 0.28 percent to close at 205.88 points. The market capitalization added MUR 139 million to close at MUR 48.931 (relative to MUR 48.792 billion recorded previous trading session). The total value traded was MUR 2.487 million exchanged in 140,791 traded securities. SIT Land Hedging Option closed at MUR 12,800 after adding 2.40 percent and CIEL Textile Limited advanced by 0.26 percent to end at MUR 38.50. Conversely, MFD Group tumbled by 8.55 percent to trade at MUR 10.70 and South Cross plummeted by 5.00 percent to close MUR 6.46.
